So saturated fat is bad? 😣

I recommend against thinking of nutrients as "good" or "bad." Are omega-6 fatty acids bad? Well, they are essential to acquire, and you would not do too well without them... yet getting too many relative to omega-3s leads to chronic inflammation.

It's about the relative balance of different nutrients.

That's true. That's a healthier way of looking at it! And another question. You say you take fish oil supplements, this was because even by eating fish we couldn't get to the correct amount of omega 3?

I think it's very difficult to get close to a 1:1 omega-6:3 in our food environment, even if you try. I take a couple grams of the supplement every day, except on days I eat wild salmon for a meal.

Ultimately what you want to track are biomarkers of inflammation (e.g. hs-CRP, homocysteine). I use Siphox to take at-home blood samples every ~3 months.

Ohh gotcha. Is it very difficult to get to that ratio because food has more omega-6 nowadays? (grain fed meat for example)

And they don't send Siphox where I live, but in a local laboratory I can get 34 markers for ~35usd so I think I'll do that! Thanks for the observation :)
