The blood donation thing is pretty wild. Would be interested in a deeper dive on that.

An article sticking to the nuts and bolts of the biology is probably unnecessary. This is exactly what you would expect: toxins are in the blood. Blood is removed at a blood donation. Ergo, donating blood will naturally remove some toxins. The fresh new blood your body makes is naturally toxin-free.

A more interesting and rich exploration would be how it is that ancient people "knew" that bloodletting worked, long before we had microscopes and cell biology...
