Speaking & Consulting

What you consume — food, drugs, or ideas — shapes who you become. Through Mind & Matter, we explore these interactions by speaking directly with academic scientists, physicians, and other researchers. For years, I’ve distilled complex topics in biology, metabolism, neuroscience, and nutrition into accessible insights. Now, I’m opening the door for deeper, personalized conversations.

About Me

I’m Dr. Nick Jikomes, an independent researcher with a PhD in systems neuroscience from Harvard University and a BS in molecular genetics and evolution from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My background includes research on plant chemistry and work in the cannabis technology space. I prioritize primary sources, curiosity over dogma, and connecting dots across disciplines — always grounded in the principle that all knowledge is provisional.

For more on my learning approach, see the Mind & Matter About page.

Speaking Gigs

I deliver engaging keynotes, panels, workshops, or tailored talks for conferences, companies, universities, and private events. Topics draw directly from Mind & Matter and include:

  • How nutrition and metabolism shape energy, hormones, inflammation, and long-term health.

  • The neuroscience of behavior: appetite, reward, circadian rhythms, motivation, and the brain-body connection.

  • Evidence-based explorations of drugs, plant compounds, and emerging health ideas — including cannabinoids, psychedelics, and the science vs. hype around them.

These sessions emphasize critical thinking, primary literature, and practical takeaways while embracing uncertainty.

Private Consultations

One-on-one sessions to discuss your specific questions about biology and health. These are exploratory conversations where we connect scientific literature to your personal context — what you consume, how it may influence your mind-body system, and principles for clearer decision-making. I can help you interpret data (including bloodwork and biomarkers) and build practical action plans using evidence-based tools.

Common discussion areas:

  • Personalized nutrition & metabolic health, including helping you obtain, interpret, and think about bloodwork & biomarkers.

  • Evaluating studies on supplements, interventions, or lifestyle factors.

  • Understanding potential risks, benefits, and mechanisms of various compounds, including psychoactive drugs and pharmaceuticals.
